SEVERIN DRIVE -- La Mesa police conducted a high-speed chase just after 5:30 Tuesday evening that resulted in a crash and the arrest of two suspects.
Police said an officer had noticed a vehicle attempting to elude him in the area of Fletcher Parkway and Nagel Drive and quickly determined the car had been stolen in El Cajon.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle failed to yield. The officer with the assistance of El Cajon Police, the San Diego County Sheriff's patrol and that department's helicopter pursued the vehicle. The pursuit went through residential streets of La Mesa and El Cajon.
The driver entered Interstate 8 westbound from El Cajon with two flat tires that possibly occurred by hitting a curb. The driver reached speeds of up to 85 miles per hour on Interstate 8 and made an abrupt turn off the freeway, prior to the Severin Drive exit.
The vehicle collided with a wall on Murray Drive just south of the Anthony’s Fish Grotto. The driver and passenger both fled the vehicle on foot. The driver had to be subdued by a Taser near the vehicle and the passenger was arrested in the parking lot of the restaurant. The driver was treated at Alvarado hospital for injuries suffered from the Taser deployment. Both suspects were booked at San Diego County Jail on the following charges:
Everette Borha, 28, possession of a stolen vehicle and felony evading arrest in a vehicle.
Hector Ramos, 39, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
