Holiday Weekend Brings DUI Warnings

LA MESA -- With a holiday looming, police are once again warning motorists that enforcement of DUI laws are being strictly enforced in La Mesa. CLICK HERE if you missed the special report on how La Mesa officers are endeavoring to catch drunk drivers before the accidents happen.

Case Highlights: On Thursday, May 8, 2014 at approximately 10:30 A.M. La Mesa Police received a call of a residential burglary that had just occurred in the 9100 block of Madison Avenue. The victim discovered the suspect in the house and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, last seen wearing a dark shirt and dark pants. La Mesa Police responded and searched the area. The suspect is still outstanding. Loss includes a laptop. Traffic Information: For the upcoming Memorial Day weekend celebrations, Saturday May 24th through
Monday May 26th, 2014, the La Mesa Police Department’s Traffic Unit is preparing to participate in extra DUI
enforcement. The La Mesa Police Department’s Traffic Unit will beef up their DUI enforcement efforts over
that weekend’s celebrations. We will have several extra officers out on patrol to aggressively look for
potentially impaired and distracted drivers. We urge the public to seek alternatives like using a designated
driver, public transportation, taxis etc. Please have a safe Memorial Day weekend!
