Police Warn Of Increased 4th Of July Traffic
LA MESA -- Lake Murray fireworks won't be happening this year so police are warning motorists of busy streets as local travel out to other, more distant firework displays this year.
Case Highlights:
On Friday, June 29 at approximately 2:25 AM, La Mesa Police and Fire Departments responded to an arson fire in the 4500 block of Palm Avenue. A vehicle that was legally parked was found with flames coming from the engine compartment. No one was injured as a result of the fire and there are no suspects. If you have any information about this crime, please call the La Mesa Police Department at (619) 667-1400.
Traffic Information:
The summer is here and with that comes more pedestrians out and about. Please be extra cautious when driving or walking so that we can keep everyone safe. This year’s Car Show is off to a great start and we have seen a large turn-out! As a reminder, the Car Shows are every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. This will continue until August 30th, 2012. We have received information that there will not be a fireworks show at Lake Murray this year. With that said, many of our residents will be traveling elsewhere to enjoy the Fourth of July. Please be safe, wear your seatbelts and drive carefully!
Crime Prevention/Emergency Preparedness:
This summer, take precautions to prevent home and vehicle burglaries. When home, use secondary locks to keep open windows secured. When leaving the house, even for five minutes, or going to bed, close and lock all doors and windows. Although the inside of vehicles can get hot in a parking lot, leaving windows cracked can help criminals burglarize your car. Remember to secure your vehicle when parking and remove all valuables. For more information, contact the crime prevention unit at 667-7545.
San Diego County will experience some rolling blackouts this summer. When power goes out, water purification systems may not be functioning fully. Safe water for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene includes bottled, boiled, or treated water. During emergency situations, each member of your household needs one gallon of water per day. Sign up for Alert San Diego, to be notified of boil water orders. Visit www.readysandiego.org/alertsandiego.
