Barry,
Thanks for sharing this. Interesting piece. It is a good example of what Gina and I are developing for La Mesa, a way for engaged citizenry to help improve the flow of useful, local information that can contribute to improving the quality of local life. I worked as a journalist for more than 30 years, including ten at the Union-Tribune. As I moved up from small papers to larger, I never found the larger ones had the kind of connection and service to their customers and local advertisers that the smaller ones had created block by block all over America. I think we can create that here in La Mesa, in partnership with locals who become members as a sign that they support the development of good, fair, civil discourse and want to help improve the supply of local information. I know these words are preaching to the confirmed, but it would be helpful if current members of La Mesa Today recruited friends and family to join us in this endeavor. Onward and upward! Thanks again for the post Barry.
