The La Mesa Classic Car & Bike Shows Opening Night

Well it's in the books and the City's new community event, "Motoring La Mesa" Classic Cars & Bike Shows, started off with a "Packed House". With the show cancelled last year due to construction with the Street Scape renovation, it is apparent everybody loves this show. By 4:00Pm all the spots were filled with a record number of cars, and Motorcycles. As the show manager and being involved for over 23 years this was an "Opening Night" to remember!! Aside from our two veteran police officers patrolling the streets we saw ; The Mayor, The Chief of Police, New City Manager, Council members all walking the show and enjoying the rewards of their efforts to keep the shows alive. Even our West side of the tracks which is always slow with cars were filled up to the end, and Bill Diego kept them happy playing tunes from the Yogurt Mill area. As I walked the show I received many Hugs & High Fives from our drivers and spectators thanking me for keeping the show going and I always insisted they needed to thank the Mayor & Council for their efforts to keeping the show. It has always been my pleasure to do this show, 20 years as the DJ and now 4 years as the Manager. Everyone tells me they love the "nostalgic" feel of this show and the "Ambience" of all the Village merchants. I agree. The cars still "cruzin" the boulevard, burgers & fries, man it's all good!! Whether you were at Por Favo's listing to Crazy Steve's tunes or up by Johnny B's listening to Mike of the Mic it was a fun time for all. This is a great Family Friendly event to show the kids what hot rods and Happy Dayz were all about. See Ya all next week, be there or be square!!!!!!
