Following the recent 500-plus acre fire in Alpine that destroyed over 30 homes and 20 buildings, esteemed volunteer organization Team Rubicon has set out to help. The veteran-led global disaster response organization is providing damage assessments, debris removal, and sifting services to affected communities in San Diego’s East County.
Thirty Team Rubicon volunteers are currently out in Alpine, providing the community with the assistance needed to taking its first steps towards recovery. The community has shown their gratitude for Team Rubicon and welcomed its volunteers with open arms, helping the organization move quickly in mobilizing their teams. Viejas Casino & Resort has been providing food and lodging for Team Rubicon members during their mission which began on July 22 and goes until July 30.
Team Rubicon boasts a 80,000-strong, highly skilled veteran volunteer force that helps communities stabilize and recover after a devastating natural disaster. Since its inception following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Team Rubicon has responded to over 275 disasters, including Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
Through a strong communications infrastructure supported by its cutting-edge technological solutions, Team Rubicon volunteers efficiently and effectively respond to natural disasters and help get stricken families back into their homes as soon as possible. By giving military veteran volunteers the opportunity to continue their service through disaster response, Team Rubicon helps give them a renewed sense of purpose, community, and identity.
