Regarding this years elections in the City of La Mesa- While the La Mesa Police Officer's Association is not officially endorsing any one particular candidate for Mayor or Council, it is our hope that the citizens of this community will make their voices heard by telling whichever candidate that they decide to vote for, incumbent or new, that business as usual in the City of La Mesa is no longer good enough. The time for change is now before things get any worse and before it's too late to do anything about it . That being said, the La Mesa Police Officers Association continues to be dedicated to working with our elected officials, whether that means mending broken relationships from the past or forging stronger new ones for the future. Either way we want to make sure that everyone involved does what is best for the city, the people that live in the city, and those of us that work in the city.

I will join you on the second, Ernie. Thank you so much for the invite, I've been meaning to RSVP. Just wanted to give you a little ribbing when I saw the opportunity present itself. No doubts in my mind we all want what's best for La Mesa.

Ian, Please research the Red-Light Camera Issue, I think you may be surprised when you see the $ involved and how much does no go to the municipality, just like Property Tax Actual & to the City is a very small amount when comparing it to the total Bill.

D (aka Hilltopper),

the Issue is CRIME - and LM POA is not endorsing because they don't feel as though any candidates (incumbent or otherwise) are going to improve THEIR sitiation (aka, pay, consolidation issue, etc)

I have stated I want more police on the street, higher pay for La Mesa PD, and red-light cameras so the ticket money would stay in La Mesa - so it dissapoints me they didn't take that statement to heart. I did state that I would NOT take a donation if they did choose to endorse me, which brought a little bit of surprise to the office who interviewed me. This officer stated some larger concerns that I won't go into on this site.

Jeff's comments were an suttle knock on the "relationship" LMPOA has with the council - it's not a good one.

Sorry Ernie - Business as Usual equals your time on the council.

I commend Officer Raybould and the Police for not endorsing any of the candidates. One of the things that has gotten our state and city in to the fiscal mess we are in is Public Employee unions endorsing and supporting candidates who are then beholden and reward their support by voting for the types of outrageous benefits that have driven us near the brink of bankruptcy. La Mesa has taken a step back from the brink by reducing pension costs a little - not enough, but a start. Breaking the ties between Public employee unions and the elected officials who make decisions about their salaries and benefits is another step to restoring some order to our finances.

Patrick, Jeff Raybould's post was to all La Mesa Residents, volunteers, business owners, employees, elected officials- all who want the best for La Mesa. I did not view his message and expectations only to elected officials nor do I view it as only after an election period. I am sure we will all remain engaged after the election. Not to have responded would have been bad form -my opinion. See you on the 2nd? Ernie

Some homes are slow to sell even in the hottest markets

With full-fledged sellers’ markets underway in dozens of metropolitan areas around the country, new research has found curious statistical patterns emerging: Even in cities where listings get multiple offers within days or hours, significant numbers of homes are sitting on the market for six months, 12 months, or more with no takers. Among the reasons: Mispricing, excessive restrictions on access to buyers and agents, failure to clean or make repairs, and a variety of other marketing bungles.  Read the full story.
