Springtime in La Mesa, means it is time for another Broadway musical production from La Mesa's own Peter Pan Junior Theater.  Now in its 47th year, PPJT was started by Mr. Bob Kuhne while a teacher at Casa De Oro Elementary school.  Mr. Kuhne brought the theater to La Mesa when he moved to Lemon Ave. Elementary School to teach 6th grade.  Twenty-five years ago Kuhne handed the theater over to Dr. Mark Arapostathis, co-founder of La Mesa Arts Academy, Director of Theatre Arts at LMAAC and the Mayor of La Mesa.  Under the direction of Dr. A, as he is known, the focus of the theater is to teach young students the principals of character and leadership using the arts as a mechanism to deliver these lessons.  This year PPJT will produce the show, "My Fair Lady".   90 young actors will tell the story of George Barnard Shaw’s “Pygmalion” through song and dance.  They will be accompanied by a full professional orchestra playing the favorite classic songs written by Alan J. Lerner and Frederick Lowe.  Peter Pan Junior Theater is a La Mesa treasure and tradition.  Tickets are available on line.  www.ppjt.org.

The show will be staged at the Joan Kroc Theatre.   April 5-8, 2017.
