LA MESA -- Oktoberfest went off without major problems and early Monday crews were working to put the Village back together again.
Traffic barriers were hauled away and the last remnants and street closing signs were gone by 7 a.m. Monday.
For the second year in a row, the carnival rides were the center of some teenage disruption, with festival organizers decided to shut down the rides early Saturday as crowds of teenagers -- some suspected of having gang affiliations -- gathered near the fountain behind the trolley station and began confronting each other in among the rides on the west side of the trolley tracks.
However the crowds were dispersed and major confrontations averted.
Business was brisk at the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce's beer garden almost from the moment it opened and food and drink merchants along La Mesa Boulevard were bringing in new customers.
