Crews Put Finishing Touches On 'Gingham' Overnight

LA MESA -- Cleaning crews worked through the night Sunday putting the finishing touches on La Mesa's newest and much-anticipated business.

Gingham, the newest restaurant from one of San Diego County's creative new restaurant groups, opens today. The restaurant replaces Gio's, which had been equally heralded when it opened a few years back, but floundered. The new restaurant management group has had success with other innovative new operations, including Burlap.

Gingham also has the juice of a celebrity chef behind it. Brian Malarkey, who made waves on the Bravo Network's Top Chef competition, has designed the new menu and the restaurant's interior has been transformed, including a redesigned dining room, bar and a casual waiting area (see below).
Check back in later for a report on how the first day is going.
