Amid High Temperatures, Council Races Heating Up

LA MESA -- On the eve of the first big candidates night of the political season, City Council candidate Laura Lothian kicked off her campaign with a gathering at her Lemon Avenue Home.
Signs were distributed to friends and supporters and Lothian showed off the electric Segway-like vehicles she plans to use to canvas the city neighborhoods.
Lothian is one of five candidates vying for two council seats being contested in November's election.
Lothian, and fellow challengers Patrick Dean, Shannon O'Dunn, and Kristine Alessio will join incumbent Ruth Sterling Thursday evening at the La Mesa Community Center for a candidates forum organized by the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce. The 90 minute forum begins at 6 p.m. and is preceded by a 30 minute reception.

That's me, Deborah, behind the table!  I'm Laura's sister and my best friend, Tracy Brown, and I volunteered our time last night to welcome Laura's guests, fellow La Mesans and registered voters.  We had a blast and went thru over 200 hot dogs!  Many people ran in, grabbed a Yard Sign, and ran out because there was a Back to School Night going on at the same time - so thanks to all of them for taking the time to pick up a sign!!!  By the end of the evening, we ran out!!!
