Community Honors A Lost Friend Sunday
LA MESA, Calif. – As her friends and colleagues reminisce on life lost too early to cancer, Brenda Faye Stidum’s smile lit up every room that she entered at Waterford Terrace in La Mesa. In 2013, at the young age of 52, Brenda succumbed to cancer but not after bringing laughter and thoughtful care to so many residents in her 14 years working at senior living communities in San Diego County.
In her honor, both employees and residents will come together, donning aprons and smiles in her memory, and hold their “3rd Annual Pink Pancake Breakfast” on Sunday, Oct. 25, to raise funds for Sharp Hospice, which lovingly cared for Brenda in her final days. The event, which will be held from 7:30am to 9:30am, will also serve to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Brenda was the epitome of grace, generosity and immense strength, and we hope our annual Pink Pancake Breakfast will honor her and her legacy here at Waterford Terrace,” said Ken Rorabaugh, executive director, Waterford Terrace. “This fundraiser also allows us to thank Sharp Hospice, who cared so wonderfully for Brenda as the disease took hold. We hope our friends in the community will come out on October 25 to help us celebrate Brenda’s life.”
The suggested donation for the event is $10.00, with all proceeds going to Sharp Hospice. A raffle will also be held, with tickets offered at $5.00 each. Prizes include a gourmet dinner for four people, prepared by Waterford Terrace’s Executive Chef Joe Costa, a cruise on San Diego Bay and wonderful gift baskets provided by community partners.
