A Night For Preparing, Supporting

LA MESA -- Tonight is National Night Out, an evening for neighborhoods across the city to take stock in its efforts to combat crime. La Mesa, under the leadership of City Council members Mark Arapostathis and Ernie Ewin, have been working to incorporate a heavy dose of emergency preparedness efforts into this annual event.

In addition to police visits to Neighborhood Watch groups this evening, the city is offering a special event from 6 to 8 p.m. at the north TARGET parking lot at Grossmont Center. This Emergency Preparedness Fair  is a family friendly event, a fun and easy way to learn how to prepare for a disaster. Enjoy free BBQ from TARGET, explore emergency vehicles, free child fingerprinting, and receive free resources and information on putting together an emergency preparedness kit. For more information call 667.7545.

In addition, police are conducting a fundraiser at BJ's Brewhouse, the restaurant in the eastern parking lot at Grossmont Center. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today, diners carrying a copy of the coupon above will have 15 percent of their purchase donated to police Peer Support efforts in the community.
