Notes From The Fringe Will Entertain
LA MESA -- The annual La Mesa Arts Alliance (LMAA) fundraiser will be a production called “Letters from A Nut” on Thursday, February 21 at the La Mesa Community Center, 4975 Memorial Drive. This comedy features readings of letters, requests, complaints, fan mail and questions that were sent to real people and real businesses and could not possibly have been taken seriously...but, amazingly, were.
Here's one example of the real letters you'll be hearing performed this evening:
Dear Ralphs
I recently bought a sponge from you. When I got home I used my sponge then went to sleep. I put my sponge on the kitchen sink. The next morning when I woke up that sponge was in the bedroom with me. How did it get there? Another time I was just sitting in the living room reading when I looked down. I noticed that that sponge was right by my feet. How did it get there? I took that sponge and locked it in a room. All night I heard banging. That sponge wanted to get out! But I wouldn’t let it. I want to talk to somebody there about the possibility that my sponge is haunted. Who can I talk to? I am a normal person, not history of paranormalcy, although I once had a problem with my Clorox moving from my hallway to my family room.
Should I send this sponge to you?
The hour long performance begins at 7:00 p.m. with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 with a no host food and beverage bar and current LMAA members will receive free admission and snacks. LMAA Membership is $25 for an individual or $40 for a family.
City Councilman Mark Arapostathis will once again produce and perform the production for the La Mesa Arts Alliance including other volunteers Jon Hayman, Budd Willis, Neil Shannon and Vicki Willis. The La Mesa Arts Alliance is a partner of the La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation helping to bring varied recreational and leisure programs and activities into our community.

Some homes are slow to sell even in the hottest markets
With full-fledged sellers’ markets underway in dozens of metropolitan areas around the country, new research has found curious statistical patterns emerging: Even in cities where listings get multiple offers within days or hours, significant numbers of homes are sitting on the market for six months, 12 months, or more with no takers. Among the reasons: Mispricing, excessive restrictions on access to buyers and agents, failure to clean or make repairs, and a variety of other marketing bungles. Read the full story.
