Discovering The La Mesa Wall of Sound

LA MESA -- Friday afternoons at Cosmos Coffee Cafe -- particularly on a cool, winter day -- is a pleasant place to catch the weekly jazz trio that this week turned into a quintet.

Mike Kinnard, a retired civil servant, showed up and joined ocassional singer Marty Murphy and turned the afternoon into a La Mesa Wall of Sound.

Kinnard plays a nice harmonica and all five of these gentleman share a feel for the jazz classics.
With a cup of tea and a cold wind outside, the crowd quickly warmed to the Friday offerings.
The Sam Johnson Trio plays from 3 to 5 every Friday.

Chris:

Thanks for the nice piece. It is The Sam Johnson Trio. I may have your Nightengale song ready this Friday. Sam told me to. Perhaps the trio will as well. Nice tune. You and Gina bring a good vibe into the joint on Fridays.
