Katie, the Savannah cat that disappeared nearly two weeks ago from the Mount Helix home where she and her owner, Dr. Brigitte Cowell, were visiting, was found last night by an alert Mt. Helix neighbor. Katie and her saga gained media attention when she was featured on 10 News shortly after her escape. With Katie reunited with her owner, the flyers which have blanketing La Mesa are being removed. The response of the citizens of La Mesa to Katie's plight was incredible, with elementary school children carrying her flyers and searching, people calling with sightings, and calling just with wishes of good luck. As flyers were removed today along Grossmont Blvd. and Bancroft Dr., motorists yelled at from their cars inquiring as to if she had been found and then honked and gave the thumbs up when they heard the good news.
