Precinct Results Coming In; Sterling, Alessio Lead

LA MESA -- Precinct election results are starting to be posted now and Ruth Sterling and Kristine Alessio are retaining their lead for La Mesa City Council seats with  44.7 percent of the vote now counted.

Shannon O'Dunn remains in third place with Patrick Dean and Laura Lothian continuing to trail.

Sterling leads by more than  400 votes (3 percent) over Alessio and O'Dunn trails Alessio by about 500 votes.  Dean trails O'Dunn by about more than 1,000 votes and Lothian trails Dean by more than 700 votes.

Bill Baber and Emma Turner continue to hold sizeable leads in the La Mesa/Spring Valley School Board race. Challenger Jay Steiger is still trailing Baber by about 10 percentage points with 44 percent of the vote counted.

“The results show that our community has confidence in our School Board’s focus on improving test scores and protecting taxpayers.” Baber said, predicting his lead would hold up through the evening.
