City Celebrates New Allison Avenue
LA MESA -- City officials yesterday gathered to take a few moments noting the completion of the Allison Avenue project.
Greg Humora, the city's director of public works, took a gathering of politicians, city workers and the public through the improvements that have been made to make the street more walkable and to create informal gathering places and natural features along the route. See slide show above.
Mayor Art Madrid spoke briefly, praising city workers for continuing to identify grant opportunities that have allowed the city to pursue its long range plan of making downtown a more accessible, more enjoyable place. Madrid also took a moment to point to the upcoming work along La Mesa Boulevard where the city intends to spend $5-million doing for that section of downtown what the city has done for Allison Avenue.
