Palm Avenue 7-11 Robbed Again
PALM AVENUE -- For the second time in two days, the 7-11 on Palm Avenue was robbed in the early morning hours.
Police said that at about 2:51 a.m Sunday morning, a call came in that a robbery had just occurred at the 7-11 located at 4253 Palm Avenue. An employee reported that the suspect entered the store, approached the counter, and simulated holding a gun beneath a towel. The suspect then announced that he was robbing the store and demanded cash. The suspect fled eastbound on Echo Drive in a small dark colored vehicle. The employee was not injured.
Suspect Description: Black male, approximately 18 years old, 5’6” tall, 140 pounds, wearing a black hooded jacket.
Just after 3:30 a.m. on Saturday mornng a similar incident occurred at the same location with a disguised robber simulating a gun in his pocket.
This location, just a block off the 125, has been hit often enough in recent years that night patrol officers often drive by and stop in to get coffee and soft drinks during their shifts, but that hasn't stopped these events. The store was also robbed in October.

Comment by jl on February 5, 2012 at 11:43am I think the city should install a community policing satellite on the property where the defunct gas station is and keep several police officers/cars there at all times. That would put a police presence right in the area that needs it most--near the trolley station/7-11/Collier park/Sunny Donuts (which has also been robbed several times). When we first moved here we liked Collier Park but my kids and I haven't gone there for years because there's too much drug dealing, etc. that goes on there.
