LA MESA -- Police arrested two juveniles after a strong-arm robbery left a local woman injured.
Police said that just after 7 p.m. Tuesday officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 4100 block of Lois Street in West La Mesa. The 58 year old female victim reported walking north on Lois Street near University Avenue when she was approached by two black male juveniles.
One of the juveniles asked the victim for a dollar. When the victim told the juveniles she did not have a dollar, they walked away. The victim continued walking on Lois Street. A few moments later, the victim felt a tug on her shoulder bag. The victim grabbed the straps of her shoulder bag and a struggle ensued. Eventually the juvenile suspect overpowered the victim, pulling her to the ground. Both juvenile suspects fled on foot with the victim’s property.
Several witnesses were located at the scene and directed police to the last known location of the suspects. During a search of the area, one of the juvenile suspects was located in the 7100 block of Waite Drive in La Mesa. During further investigation, the second juvenile suspect was identified and located at his home in the 7000 block of Waite Drive. Most of the victim’s property was recovered in a nearby bush.
During this incident, the victim received an abrasion to her right forearm. Medical attention was not required.
Both suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall on robbery charges.
Suspect #1: A 15 year old male from La Mesa.
Suspect #2: A 17 year old male from Lemon Grove.
