Bomb Threat At Toys R Us

LA MESA -- Police evacuated the Toys R Us store on Grossmont Boulevard after a note was found in the store that police said was a bomb threat.

Police said they were notified shortly after 1 p.m. by an employee of Toys R Us that a note was found written on the stall of the store's bathroom, saying a bomb would go off at 2:20 p.m. in the store.

Police ordered the evacuation and the Harbor Police bomb sniffing dog was brought in to search the store. No bomb was found and there was no explosion at 2:20 p.m.

Police expect the store to re-open later this afternoon.

By 2 p.m. police had set up a command post and had recommended citizens stay clear of the area.
This event comes on one of the heavier shopping days of the year with shoppers returning and exchanging items after Christmas.

At 3:48 p.m., police announced they had completed the action and no arrests were made at this time.
