Gunman Hits Motel 6

LA MESA -- Police are looking for a man who brandished a handgun while robbing a motel just off I-8 in La Mesa.

Police said that a 9:10 p.m. on Friday the Motel 6 located at 7621 Alvarado Road was robbed by a suspect armed with a handgun.

The unknown suspect entered the front-desk lobby area and approached the clerk at the counter. The suspect displayed a black semi-auto handgun and demanded cash. After the clerk complied, the suspect fled on foot and was last seen running eastbound on Alvarado Road from the hotel.

Officers searched the area with assistance from the San Diego Sheriff Department’s helicopter but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20s, approximately 6’00” tall with a thin build. The suspect was wearing all black clothing, including a black long sleeved shirt, black pants, black shoes, a black baseball cap, black gloves, and a black mask covering his nose and mouth.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
