Robber Takes Cash, Smashes Window

ALVARADO ROAD -- Just after 6 p.m. Saturday evening, La Mesa Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery at 70th Street and Alvarado Road.
The 33 year old male victim reported being robbed while crossing the street at the intersection of Alvarado Road and 70th Street. As the victim stood in the center median waiting for traffic to clear, he was approached by the suspect, who was walking in the opposite direction. The suspect told the victim he had a gun and demanded money from the victim. The victim gave the suspect approximately $7 and walked away from the suspect towards the Shell station, located at 5151 70th Street. The suspect followed the victim into the Shell parking lot. The victim stopped near a Ford Ranger in the parking lot that was occupied by a 49 year old female. As the suspect continued to yell at the victim, he spotted the female in the Ford Ranger. The suspect turned towards the Ford Ranger and began yelling at the female, again stating that he had a gun. The suspect then punched the driver side window of the Ford Ranger. The window shattered and the suspect walked away. The suspect was last seen walking east on Alvarado Road from the Shell station.
The female was seated in the passenger seat of the Ford Ranger and was not injured. The victim of the robbery was not injured. No gun was seen during the incident.
Suspect: White male, 20-25 years, 6’ 0”, 180-200 pounds, with a clean shave. He was wearing a black and brown plaid shirt or jacket, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with white letters “DC”.
