Elderly Bandit Sought In Gas Station Robbery

MURRAY DRIVE -- Call him the Mature Bandit. La Mesa police are looking for a 70-year-old robber who hit the Arco Station at 9600 Murray Drive early Friday morning.
Police said the man entered the station at about 3:40 a.m. The clerk at the Arco station reported seeing the suspect standing outside of the store a few minutes before the robbery occurred. When the suspect entered the store, he approached the clerk at the register counter. The suspect simulated a gun with his hand in his right jacket pocket and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk removed cash from the register and handed the money to the suspect. The suspect threatened to shoot the clerk if he moved and then ran out of the store.
The suspect was last seen running westbound through the parking lot with an undetermined amount of money. The suspect has not been found and there were no injuries reported.

Suspect: White male, 70 years, 5’ 7”, 160 pounds, with short gray hair and a gray mustache. He was wearing a black baseball cap with the letters “USA” on the front, pants and a tan jacket.
