Machete-Wielding Robbery Suspect Arrested

LA MESA -- Police have arrested another alleged perpetrator in a recent robbery -- this one that included a machete threat.

Police said Thursday that the July 18 robbery at the Circle K/76 Gas Station, located at 8899 La Mesa Boulevard,  was executed by a 28-year-old San Diego man who was a suspect in another, unrelated robbery.

Police said the suspect, Danny g. Molestina, 28, (photo right) entered the store, walked up to the store clerk behind the counter and brandished a machete. The suspect exited the store with the cash drawer and money from the cash register. The cash drawer and machete were recovered by citizens living in the area of the Circle K. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Molestina was arrested by the Chula Vista Police Department for an unrelated robbery. Molestina was identified and subsequently linked to the La Mesa robbery. He was booked into the San Diego County Jail.
