Robbers Hit Ice Cream Store Again
LA MESA -- Robbers have acquired a taste for Baskin Robbins.
For the third time in two years, the ice cream store at the corner of La Mesa Boulevard and Jackson Drive was robbed, this time by a gun-wielding duo.
Thursday evening, at 9:47, police received a radio call of a robbery that just occurred at the Baskin Robbins located at 8807 La Mesa Blvd. Two male suspects entered the store. One of the suspects brandished a small revolver. Suspect #1 pointed the handgun at store employees and ordered them to lay down on the ground. The employees complied with the suspect’s demands. Suspect #1 then ordered one of the employees to fill a bag with the cash from the store register. The suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. No employees were injured during the robbery.
Officers searched the surrounding areas with the assistance of San Diego Sheriff Department’s ASTREA, but were unable to locate the suspects.
Suspect #1 is described as a black male wearing a white long sleeve sweatshirt with a gray sleeveless shirt over it, a green and black baseball cap, and white and black tennis shoes. Suspect #1 had a white cloth covering his face.
Suspect #2 is described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white tennis shoes. Suspect #2 also had a white cloth covering his face.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
You may also call Crime Stoppers’ anonymous toll-free tip line (888) 580-TIPS (or www.sdcrimestoppers.com). You can remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information in this case.
The store, located not far from the highway I-8 and 125 ramps, was also robbed in October of 2010 and December of 2011. Two of the robberies happened in the late evening; one in the late afternoon.

Has anyone in La Mesa heard of a 211 alarm setup??
I am terribly sorry for all involved, but...
It should be, "and ordered them to LIE down on the ground," (not LAY down).
