Man Robbed At Grossmont Center
GROSSMONT -- Police are looking for a robber who struck while the victim was purchasing a movie ticket at Grossmont Center.
Police said Tuesday at about 10:15 p.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Grossmont Shopping Center, located at 5500 Grossmont Center Drive.
The 23 year old male victim, told officers he was robbed while purchasing a movie ticket at the Grossmont Theaters. The suspect walked up behind the victim and demanded that he hand over his shoulder bag. The victim told the suspect there was nothing of value in his bag. The suspect pulled the bag from the victim’s shoulder and ran toward the east parking lot.
The victim followed the suspect to retrieve his property. When the suspect realized there was nothing of value in the victim’s bag, he threw it on the ground. When the victim walked over to retrieve his shoulder bag, the suspect saw that the victim was holding a twenty dollar bill in his hand. The suspect reached into his sweatshirt pocket (simulating a handgun) and told the victim to hand over his money or he would shoot him. The victim threw the twenty dollar bill at the suspect. The suspect picked up the money and walked away north through the parking lot toward Center Drive.
The victim was not injured during the robbery and the suspect was not found.
The suspect was described as a black male, late 20’s to early 30’s, 6’2”, 250 pounds, bald head and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on the front and black shorts.
