Love where you live!
The Boys & Girls Clubs of East County will present its 51st annual Conrad’s Supper Club, formerly called the Children’s Ball, a fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Omni San Diego Hotel, 675 “L” St., Downtown San Diego. Reception will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner beginning at 7 p.m. and live auction at 8:30 p.m.
The annual event has been renamed in honor of the late philanthropist Conrad Prebys, who passed away in July 2016 at age 82. Prebys, one of San Diego County’s most successful business executives, gave hundreds of millions of dollars to a wide range of causes, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County.
Also recognized at the Feb. 25 fundraiser will be La Mesa residents Ron and Mary Alice Brady, donors and namesake for the soon-to-be-constructed Brady Family Clubhouse on the campus of La Mesa Arts Academy, previously known as La Mesa Middle School. The new 25,000-square-foot Brady Family Clubhouse will be the largest of the six Boys and Girls Clubs of East County. The clubhouse will feature a learning center, a full-service kitchen and nutrition center and Little Rascals area for 5-to-7-year olds, plus a 10,000-square-foot Bill Walton Gymnasium, named after the La Mesa native, Helix High graduate (class of 1970) and former professional basketball player.
Individual tickets to the Feb. 25 fundraiser begin at $325 per person. About 350 people are expected to attend. To RSVP, call Samantha Olsen, director of development, at (619) 440-1600 or visit https://bgcec.org/event/conradssupperclub2017/.
Performing at the fundraiser will be the Republic of Music band. Items included in a fantasy drawing will include a vacation in Italy for two, passes to Disneyland, custom creations from Blumenthal's Jewelry, $1,000 cash and an elegantly displayed designer table. Items included in a live auction will include a suite at an upcoming San Diego Padres baseball game, solar panels from ASI Hastings and a world-class surfing trip to Puerta del Mar in Baja Norte, Mexico from Christian Brothers Cleaning & Restoration Inc. Guests also will enjoy a seafood buffet provided by San Diego Seafood.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of East County, a chartered member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, has more than 3,000 members, ages 5 to 18, and operates five facilities, including: the Conrad Prebys Complex with the El Cajon Clubhouse, 1171 East Madison Ave., and El Cajon Teen Center, 1153 East Madison Ave.; Lakeside Clubhouse, 12824 Lakeshore Dr.; Brady Family La Mesa Teen Center, 7775 Junior High Dr.; and, Conrad Prebys Santee Clubhouse, 8820 Tamberly Way.
