LA MESA -- The people who maintain many of the vintage cars that populate La Mesa's car show will go to legendary distances to maintain the integrity of their cars.
The original door handles. The vintage air filter. The original hub caps. Everything is the real thing.
Except for the paint.
For some reason, these history nuts are willing to paint their cars with colors that didn't exist when these cars first rolled off the Detroit assembly lines. The colors in the slide show below add a modern patina to these classic cars.
One car aficionado said the fact that the original color palettes were so bland have given these car lovers license to innovate a little.
Colorful guys, they all are.
