An Obsession For The Perfect Engine
LA MESA -- There is a certain amount of obsessive compulsive character in the great length Thursday night's car show participants go to polish and shine their prized vehicles.
That is particularly true of those among the car buffs who even have the nerve to open the hoods for public inspection. Shiny and clean carburetors. Wiring that is in perfect placements, untouched by rodents and grime. No oil spots on anything.
That these cars were built 60 and 70 years ago and have run for hundreds of thousands of miles makes this sort of attention to detail almost scary. We suspect toothbrushes are involved.
