COMMUNITY CENTER -- For an hour Thursday night, the La Mesa Community Center took a step back in time. The La Mesa Arts Alliance hosted its annual fundraiser with a live performance of some of America's most beloved radio shows.

Performers with 1940s and '50s scripts from Burns and Allen, The Bickersons and Ozzie and Harriet took the audience behind the scenes to see how the pre-TV entertainment in a simpler time played out in radio studios. The performance came complete with sound effects and radio commercials. Dr. Mark Arapostathis, who heads the Peter Pan Junior Theater, lent his talents to this production, including performing.

"Radio Daze. . .again'' was an evening with friends and neighbors and a break from TV.
