Shrub Fire Breaks Out Along Carmichael Drive

LA MESA -- A man clearing brush with a weed whacker apparently ignited a brush fire that had Heartland and San Miguel fire fighters out working in the heat Sunday afternoon.

The brush fire, which began shortly before 2 p.m. along Carmichael Drive, a winding street that runs off of Fletcher Drive just east of Bancroft in the western foothills of Mt. Helix.

The hot and dry conditions in the heavily wooded backyards in this easternmost reaches of the City of La Mesa had fire fighters reacting quickly before the blaze could spread through the underbrush. One of the workers complained of smoke inhalation and was being checked by ambulance personnel but there were no serious injuries and the fire was quickly controlled.

Too hot to be out weed-whacking! Glad no one was hurt. Also it's not "Bankcroft" it's "Bancroft."

Some homes are slow to sell even in the hottest markets

With full-fledged sellers’ markets underway in dozens of metropolitan areas around the country, new research has found curious statistical patterns emerging: Even in cities where listings get multiple offers within days or hours, significant numbers of homes are sitting on the market for six months, 12 months, or more with no takers.
