“Let There Be Light” - Advent at The Table: United Church of Christ of La Mesa

Our Advent theme this year is the first thing God speaks of, in the first lines of the book of Genesis.

God’s first utterance—“Let there be light”

God’s first utterance, and then God sees that it is good.

Over and over, God sings to a new creation: good, good, very good.

We were formed in a primordial goodness.

But our world does not always feel that way, does it?

Our world can feel broken, twisted, and bleak sometimes.

And Advent doesn’t deny that…

Success Story: Children in La Mesa and across the World Benefit from Multi-Cultural Night at Charley Brown Children’s Center

 

The hall was alive with color, guests, laughter and the tantalizing scents of good home cooking.  Bright red cloths covered tables brimming with foods from eleven countries (prepared by parents) and art projects created by the young students of La Mesa's Charley Brown Children's Center.  Display boards, also the work of the children, featured what they have learned about those countries.
