LA MESA – Police were investigating two robberies that occurred within thirty minutes of each other generally within the Village portion of La Mesa.
At 10:32 p.m. a juvenile was stopped by a group of five other youths near 4200 Spring Street after he was exiting the 7-Eleven store on Palm Avenue. Grossmont Center - A man armed with a knife robbed the Pier 1 Imports store early today. The suspect forced the female clerk to open the safe while holding an object, possibly a knife, against her back. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running into the nearby parking structure. The suspect was described as a black male, 20-25 years old, 6 foot tall, 165 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white tennis shoes.

LA MESA -- Another business has been hit by an armed robber.
Late Sunday night police say an armed robber entered the Union-76 gas station at 6085 Lake Murray Boulevard, flashed a handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes. The clerk obliged and the man -- described as a white male, 5-9 to 6' -- fled on foot. No vehicle was identified and no one was injured in the event.

LA MESA – The La Mesa Environmental Sustainability Commission, a new advisory board to the La Mesa City Council, met Monday night and demonstrated a willingness to look into its own operation for efficiencies and reductions in environmental impact.

FLETCHER PARKWAY – For the second time in two days, an armed robbery has occurred in a generally quiet part of La Mesa.
Just after 7 p.m. Sunday evening, La Mesa police report a man armed with a handgun entered the PETCO store at 8501 Fletcher Parkway and demanded cash. After receiving an undisclosed sum, the man fled on foot and no vehicle was known to be involved.

LA MESA – Valentine’s Eve was not a sweet time for a local liquor store.
La Mesa police report a masked gunman walked into the Mart Liquor at 8695 La Mesa Boulevard and pointed a gun at the clerk. LA MESA -- La Mesa Police and Fire personnel responded to an accident call in the 8600 block of Lemon Avenue Wednesday where a motorcycle operator was injured.
Fire officials said details of the accident were not immediately available, but the motorcycle driver was transported to the hospital by medical transport. LA MESA - The Super Bowl occurred about as far away as you can get from the Jewel of the Hills, but the cheering for the New Orleans Saints was noticeably louder through town.

LA MESA - The boutiquing of downtown La Mesa continues in ways big and small.
