Name This Vegetable

Fellow La Mesa gardeners, please identify this vegetable from my garden.

Clue#1: I have grown hundreds of them, but never like this.

Clue#2: No genetic engineering was involved.

Clue#3: It's not a pumpkin.

Good luck and good gardening!

In two places at the same time?

Whilst painting a remembered scene of the Santa Ynez Valley covered with a thundering Pacific Storm I was suddenly reminded of our own East County landscapes. Perhaps we do not get THIS type of storms but we do have our own versions.…

Yes, it just gets more stupid out there by the day!

Years ago I remember enjoying a standup comedian named Mort Sahl whose comedy dealt exclusively with current events. He would stand at his microphone, holding a newspaper, and tell audiences that he didnt have to write many jokes because he got most of his material just reading the daily papers. This memory sprang to my mind as I read yet another outstanding "current event" in what passes for news these days. Seems…

"Conquering the Tyrants"

Al Queda recently staged a raid on two of the prisons in Iraq just outside Baghdad. They murdered 25 of the poor trained and poorly equipped but loudly bragging Iraqi guards. They released "hundreds" of the inmates along with their fellow Al Queda killers. All beneath the nose of the incredibly poor excuse for a leader, Prime Minister Al Maliki and the incredibly poor excuse for but outstandingly equipped Iraqi…

Are you following the black demonstrations? Of course you are. Television is seeing to it that you do, twenty four hours a day on every station that carries ANY "news" at all. Of course you are! And you have heard that self appointed, vomit inducing Jesse Jackson, that paragon of calm, that acme of "Lets just all get along", that, "Come on, we can live together", the guy that brags about having marched with the…

A saga of San Diego, or "We can do it but they cant"

Yet another San Diego saga is unfolding right before our eyes but, unless you are a card carrying National Socialist Democrat and thereby accept any and all perversions and perverts into the ranks for more votes, you can see where this should be heading.  The suckers of San Diego, knowing full well Bob Filner's background and propensities, embraced him and his team of questionable minions. They welcomed him…

Race baiter or just a racist?

Its great to hear the president speak, even though each time you know exactly what he/it is going to say. Today he continues to work from the Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton playbook on playing the black race against the white. Today he/it told the drooling press that he related his own "experiences" to that of Martin, Could that be because at Martin's age he, YOUR president, had already been selling dope to the…

Any excuse will do

Any excuse to smash windows, set fires, beat up innocent passers by will do. All over the country now black thugs and morons are playing at what they know and do best: Senseless Violence. All over the country communities are tippy toeing about, fearful less blacks come into their business areas and smash their windows, set their stores on fire. In Los Angeles, a couple sitting on a bus bench were attacked by these…
