In the land of "Insane"

How would you like to live in a land run and totally controlled by the insane? How about a place ruled and governed by bloated, self-important, posturing toad lookalikes never sure of what to do next and relying upon gossip and rumor from equally stupid neighbors for far reaching decisions which do and will impact the lives of every other "citizen"? How about this ruling class making itself so insulated from the great…

April 9 La Mesa City Council Meeting is cancelled. Was it the right thing to do?

On Friday April 5th at approximately 4PM the La Mesa City Clerk issued a notice that the April 9 4PM City Council Meeting was cancelled due to "a lack of agenda items." We find this curious! For one regular agenda item, the open public comments portion of every meeting, the City has no way to measure interest outside of actually providing this vital forum. Helix Water District Check Register, Del Mar School District pays big $ for hiding emails!

The LMCOG has obtained the Helix Water District check register for payments of expenses through March 2013. We encourage our local agencies to be forthcoming and timely in request of public records such as these.

The Del Mar union School district recently lost a court case over public records and, sadly, has to use taxpayer money to pay the $42,500 in legal fees of the plaintiff. Let's hope our own local agencies do not ignore the open government and…

Statistics - Proof, exaggeration or lies?

As we proceed through each day we are bombarded with statistics cited by television "reporters" (actually 'news readers'), politicians and anyone else pushing themselves into the temporary limelight. Statistics give the impression of solid knowledge, of indepth study, of, well, in words of single syllable, pure ca-ca. More often than not the cited statistics are either exaggerated, only partially correct, totally…
