Points of interest

Regarding the brand new article about the Democratic Club appointment, I found a couple of things very interesting:

After reading the article I noted that any and all input from the public had been automatically blocked. Now, why would that be?…

The role of government.

The teacher quiets the classroom, stands for several moments to ensure she has the attention of all the students and then asks, "What Is The Role Of Government".  The quiet continues as students look everywhere but at the teacher hoping she does not call on them for answers or opinions. No responses. A response from the back of the room: "To give us stuff". A snickering accompanied by nods of agreement. Years ago, when you and I were in school, a scene like this could not be imagined. We…

The current poster boy

Of course you are aware of, either through personal thoughts or actions or through the none stop, 24 hour a day, "wear 'em down" coverage of "news" regarding this gun thing. Every time a shooting occurs it seems the Brown Shirts rush to their closets and pull their placquards out, dust them off and set out to march and sing about new gun laws. Never mind that there exists thousands of gun laws throughout the country…

A bridge to nowhere

"A bridge to nowhere".  Heard that phrase before?  Sure you have. It is bandied about all the time when talking about practically anything conceived of or done by either Federal, State or local government. Grandiose plans requiring massive expenditure of OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY - in this case OUR TAX MONEY!.  One can find these "bridges to nowhere" everywhere throughout the country as well as around the world, purchased…

A Challenge to the City Council (Delivered at the 3/26 Meeting)

Mayor Madrid and Council members: You may have read an article in the U/T a month or two ago about a program the city of Escondido implemented to reduce the cost of firefighting services - more specifically the cost of Emergency Medical Services. I heard a presentation about this program from the two senior Firemen in Escondido last Friday. Their work, like all fire departments, has increasingly shifted from fighting fires to providing EMT services. Escondido's 2012 calls…

Apology? Are you kidding?

I returned home after my second tour of the Southeast Asia Theatre to be greeted by filthy, feather festooned reeking hippies. To them, the amazingly stupid collegiate mob and those fanning the flames, the press, I and my fellows were the "Baby Killers". The only time I could wear my uniform, of which I was proud, was on base, period. Away from those sequestered surroundings I was once more the "Baby Killer". I read…

Priorities

"A man has got to know his limitations". Like wise "a business" and, perhaps even more importantly, A GOVERNMENT.  Suppose for a moment that your wife or husband continually spends the family money, and spends it on frivolous things, things not needed. Suppose this spouse continues to keep the family in a state of financial crises all the time by this spending and, when confronted, always starts a fight to deflect the…
