Tom Skinner, a U.S. Army vet who left La Mesa, CA by bicycle on March 10, arrived at the National PTSD Center in White River Junction, VT on June 27 (PTSD Awareness Day), successfully completing his cross-country trek to call attention to the plight of PTSD sufferers. Sponsored by the Welcome Home Ministries of the United Church of Christ of La Mesa, CA (UCCLM), Tom’s journey provided him with many opportunities to share his presentation, “What Comes After Welcome Home,” and to tell his story to the people he encountered along the way, using his experiences to help other veterans understand and recognize the signs, symptoms and effects of PTSD, and then to help them find the resources they need to cope with its effects and live happy productive lives. On September 9, 2012 Tom will share his story and his hopes and dreams at a “Serendipity Potluck Supper” sponsored by UCCLM’s Mission & Outreach Board (Supper 6:00pm, Presentation 7:00pm). All are welcome. Bring a dish to share.

Principal forgiveness could reduce costs for taxpayers
